Wednesday's Assignment

Who are these people?

Can you remember how to start a conversation at a party? How about:

"Excuse me, but I heard you were the person who made the punch. I just wanted to tell you it’s unbelievably good."

So you get talking for the next 10 minutes. Then what? Silence starts to set in. So does panic.

Can you keep it going? How can you keep the conversation alive? How would you do that in your first language? Write a few lines and check with a partner before publishing:

A:"Excuse me, but I heard you were the person who made the punch. I just wanted to tell you it’s unbelievably good."
B: Really? That was nice of you to say.
A: It's true. I already tasted it at your home last month.
B: If you like it, I can tell you how to make it.
A: Thank you. please send a Wechat to me.
B: No problem.

My Field Trip to Centre Island

Version 1

My Field Trip to Centre Island
Have you ever tasted the Ontario lake water? Joseph told us the water is not salt.
Our school went to Centre Island for a field trip on June 24, before the July 1 Break. It was a sunny day. We met at coffee shop inside the Don Mills subway station by 9:30 a.m. A lot of classmates and their family attended this activity. After we got off Union station by subway, we took Ferry to Centre Island.
Our huge troops left the Ferry dock. I was glad to see Waldi and Joseph. I had ever thought they couldn't come with us. Olivia, Suki and I felt hungry, so we decided to picnic first. We ate lunch beside the lake. Meanwhile, we breathed fresh air, saw the beautiful lake views. It was fantastic! After lunch, we walked to Centre beach. We were across centreville  to Pier. All of us were very excited when we arrived Pier. I felt like seeing a sea, blue sky, flying birds, limpid water, white cloud and sandy beach.
I had to leave early at 2 pm. I liked this field trip. On the back way, I plan to come Centre Island again in the autumn. I will take my family spend whole day at there.
By the way, I tasted the lake water. It is really fresh.
